Ship Classification and Maritime Services

Black Sea Register of Shipping:

Your Partner in Maritime Classification and Certification Established in 2025, Black Sea Register of Shipping (BSRS) is an independent classification society providing essential services for the safety, compliance, and operational reliability of ships and offshore structures. As a non-IACS classification society, we aim to support the maritime industry by offering practical and professional services in line with international standards and regulations. Our services are designed to assist shipowners, shipbuilders, and related stakeholders in maintaining safety and compliance throughout a vessel’s lifecycle.

Ship Classification and Registration Services

Before a vessel or offshore installation can be entered into our register, it must undergo surveys in accordance with BSRS rules. Upon satisfactory completion, we issue a Certificate of Classification, and the vessel is added to the BSRS Register of Ships.

Our Core Services Include:

  • Survey and registration during new construction
  • Inspection of machinery, equipment, and onboard systems
  • Periodic and occasional surveys for class maintenance
  • Review and approval of technical drawings and plans
  • Type approval of materials and equipment
  • Approval of service providers and manufacturers
  • Material testing and equipment inspection
  • Support services related to ship classification and documentation

Material and Equipment Approval

BSRS provides testing and approval services for a wide range of marine materials and equipment, such as:

  • Hull construction materials (steel, non-ferrous metals, etc.)
  • Machinery and electrical systems
  • Fire protection and insulation materials
  • Anchoring and mooring equipment
  • Life-saving appliances and fire-fighting systems

Manufacturers with consistent quality control may be eligible for simplified approval and inspection procedures.

Statutory Survey Services:

BSRS is authorized by several flag administrations to carry out statutory surveys and issue certificates in line with international maritime conventions such as:

  • SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea)
  • MARPOL (Marine Pollution Prevention)
  • ISM Code (Safety Management)
  • ISPS Code (Security)
  • Load Lines, Tonnage, and other relevant regulations

We also conduct inspections and certification of freight containers used at sea, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
